Writers On The Edge is an 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization generously supported by the Oregon Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency; and by the Lincoln County Cultural Coalition, which redistributes money from the Oregon Cultural Trust, a statewide organization that invests in Oregon's arts, humanities and heritage. Events held at the Visual Arts Center are supported in part by the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts and the City of Newport.
Contributions from businesses and lodging properties allow Writers On The Edge, Inc. to carry out community-based literary programs. Underwriting comes from:

The 2008 summer youth writing workshop was underwritten by grants from the Martin Frank Memorial Fund and the Nye Beach Hotel Scholarship Fund of the Lincoln County Foundation, by a grant from the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund, and by a donation from the Portland-basedWieden & Kennedy advertising agency.
Tax-deductible contributions from individuals allows us to:
- host world-famous authors
- provide free admission to students attending Nye Beach Writers' Series Events
- provide scholarships to students participating in Writers on the Edge youth workshops
- produce anthologies of student work written during summer poetry workshop
We encourage you to make a matching gift to the Oregon Cultural Trust, which allows you to receive a 100% tax credit on your Oregon tax form -- up to $500 for individuals and $1000 for couples filing jointly.
